Throw Back Thursday: School Project

I am in the works of gathering wonderful outfits for all of you. So instead of showing you an old movie. I present a snapshot of a project I did.  The criteria was take a mega trend and come up with a collection based off of that. The thing I love about this collection is it's all knitted! Talk about super comfy work wear.

I hope you guys liked this little different approach.  I actually had to redo all these croquis again because I didn't back up and my flash drive broke.  Don't worry I cried a ton with those 10 hours of work no sleep cost me.  It took me a while to understand how much I actually did like this project because doing women's wear isn't my favorite thing to work on.

Do you guys have any projects that you finished and loved?

New years resolution: Closet Cleanup & 30 days of outfits

I am a clothing horder.  I can admit this I love clothes.  I think it came from a mix of being surrounded by hand-me downs, and when I was older my mom started buying me my own clothes.  It felt like freedom to mix in what I chose and had a selection of super cool clothes from my sisters.
Now I have a huge mix of clothes.  I have slowly started getting rid of my old clothes because I have a story a reason to keep all of them, and when I don't need them they become painting clothes.
Now the first challenge to myself is 30 days of outfits!
Rules:
1.) Use all of my layering pieces, you cannot use the same cardigan 2x in the same week.
2.) Rotate your bottoms, use a skirt 1-2 times a week.
3.) Do not repeat a top in the month
4.) You cannot do the same outfit even a hoodie and jeans on a Saturday this month.
5.) work out outfits can totally repeat.

Pretty easy right? not too hard so stay tuned for that I will do a recap of outfits!

The next challenge I give myself will be Closet Clean up:

This is harder I have a dresser and 2 places where I hang clothes. I feel like the 30 of outfits will help me understand what I no longer want in my closet. I have been trying to make sure that the clothes I buy are 100% natural out of my own desire for a closet.  I want my clothes to have a purpose in my closet and not just sit there since it's pretty.  I am also hoping I can organize my clothes once and for all! And not just keep them because I like looking at them. Some of them I will keep.  I love my Designer Dresses!

Graphics: Steamwear

Some family members approached me about graphic tees for girls. Stem stands for Science, technology, engineering and math.  It is a program to encourage kids especially girls to participate and be interested in this as a career.  So if my family starts selling them I'll let you know where to get them! So for now enjoy my graphics!

Let me know which ones are your favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed these graphics

Jungle Dress: Fashion Illustration

Occasionally you find inspiration in the most interesting places.  I found this image on google plus! I love the shine and the movement. I took a chance and decided to draw it. I didn't know who did this at first but googling is amazing and I was able to figure out where it was from! I hate not giving credit to where it needs to be given.

Tips to shop like a pro

Working in the Fashion world, I always get asked. "What's the latest trend?" It takes me a minute to respond with that because there can be 10 trends at once. Plus you work a year ahead so what's out right now would be last years trend info for me.  When I shop I always have a few things to help me choosing what is important to buy.  It's not very trend based as you can tell.

1) Do you love it? No really that is probably one of the first thing I ask myself.  I know if I love something if in the next 3 days I am still thinking about that item.  Then I will love it forever! I have done this on many occasions for just about anything.  Before you put down the cash on something a bit crazy for your tastes think about it. I have probably saved hundreds on this. Plus the thing you might love is another Cheetah shirt!
2) That color you "can't" wear, you can! My main color is black to be honest, but when it comes to wearing a color I just wear it.  Some ways to off set the color from my skin would be wear it as a pant instead of a top, wear a blazer thats neutral to cut it from your face.  Maybe get that color in a pattern if you don't think you can pull off the other two.

3) Make sure your basics are in good shape.  As much as we would love to have unlimited skirts tops and bottoms, I think it's more important to look at the basics because that fancy skirt you have would never go with the pit stained white tee.  Hey, I am just being honest.  Basics are one of those tasks where I just pick up I barely look at what I'm getting. This also counts for socks, tights, and undies!
4) Fiber Content is one I suggest but you don't have to do this.  It has been my goal a little over a year to start trying to make my entire wardrobe 100% natural.  This is harder than you think! This can include linen, cotton (the cheapest), silk (my favorite), leather, and wool.  I do this a lot for the environment because it is important to know what you will put back into the environment once you are done with a garment. I don't discourage or ever tell people they can't buy polyester but I personally want to care about where my clothes came from and how it will end up.

5) Prices, now this is a tricky one. I have always been the person to beg my mom in high school for the $100 sweater from Anthropologie over a bunch of  $10 tees from Hollister.  I personally will buy one item for the entire shopping trip.  Some people like disposable clothes, because they are cheap, and you can just get them dirty and throw it out. I cannot do that myself for wanting to keep my spending environmentally friendly.  Even when I shop at forever 21 I have atlas 6 dresses that are in amazing shape. I am not one to just wear and toss. When prices are high not always but usually they are better quality of fabric.
6) Shop local! I can't stress this one even more, and I do work for a big box company. I get my basics there, but when it comes to shopping at local boutiques go for it! It's amazing what you will find. Though sometimes the prices might be a bit more, you feel better putting your money back into your community.  This can even be just for accessories!
6) Re-shop your closet! I get super lazy too about clothes I probably have about 5 outfits that I wear all the time. It's sometimes better to re-shop your closet then spend any money at all.  Remember that silly thing you brought three years ago, play dress up see if you can make it work.

That's all the tips I have for you today I hope you can keep in mind some of these the next time you shop!

New and improved chairs!

So this is a quick before an after. I ordered these chairs off of overstock before I got my kitten. Since they are vinyl I knew the little holes would show up.
For the last year I had been searching for a perfect fabric.  After searching for an hour at an amazing warehouse fabric store in Minnesota (SR Harris) I found the perfect one. For my first upholstery project I think I did pretty well.  Mostly the fabric is pretty forgiving and my cat seams to enjoy it.

Now before I leave you, have you done any weird projects?
Let me know below!
Hope you guys enjoy!! See you next time my little creators!!
